The Cast for Crazy for You

Director - Brian 'Tommy' Thomas

Choregrapher - Toni Grantham

Tommy was a founder member of Festival Players when the society was formed in 1973. It is therefore especially fitting that he should be our director for the 50th production. He has been a highly successful director in the past for Festival Players and SWAOS. He is also a vastly experienced Musical Director with over 80 productions to his credit with CAOS, Pied Pipers and SWAOS.

Toni's choreography contributed in no small part to the triumph of 'Oklahoma!' last year. Toni teaches dance for Prime Movers, a local dance company, and has also choreographed 'Oklahoma!' before for Delight Productions and 'Mack and Mabel' for SWAOS. Her speciality is tap dance! Toni will also be appearing in a production of 'Godspell' later this year.

Bobby Childs - Dave Smithet

Polly Baker - Claire Crofts

Dave is a regular leading man with both Festival Players and SWAOS, having played the leading role in such shows as 'Singin' in the rain', 'Pirates of Penzance', 'Anything Goes', 'Mack and Mabel' and 'Carousel'. Last year he played the Will Parker in the Festival Players' production of 'Oklahoma!'. This is his 7th year with us.

Claire grew up singing and dancing in Cambridge and last performed with the Festival Players when she played Amy in 'Where's Charlie' in 1995. Her drama activities with the Sheffield University Theatre Company included performing in several musicals including 'Chorus Line' in which she played Judy, choreographing 'Company', and culminated in directing and choreographing 'Guys and Dolls' in 1998. Claire sang with the Great Saint Mary's Girls' Choir for over 10 years and studied dance at the Eden Centre and Prime Movers in Cambridge. Claire currently sings with 13 piece soul/pop party band 'Life & Soul' who are available for gigs....

Bela Zangler - Mike Husband

Lank Hawkins - Keith Reville

Michael was delighted to be chosen for the part of Bela Zangler and has enjoyed the rehearsal period immensely, standing back in total awe of the singers & dancers within the company. A regular performer on stage at The Cambridge Drama Festival he now intends to direct at next year s festival.
The admiration is mutual here. Michael, this year, won Best Actor at the Cambridge Drama Festival for the third year running and Best Actor at the Sawston Drama Festival for the second year running !!

Keith has made a return to the theatre as Lank Hawkins after a break of almost fourteen years!
Originally from Waterford in the South-east of Ireland he has played Rusty Charlie in 'Guys and Dolls', J.B. Biggley in 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying' (for which he won the Best Supporting Actor Award in the Waterford International Festival of Light Opera in 1989) and Tony in 'West Side Story'.
Keith has also stage-managed and acted in 'serious' plays with, among others, the Red Kettle Theatre Company.
Keith's delighted to be part of 'Crazy for You', and the Cambridge Festival Players.

Irene Roth - Keena McKillen

Everett Baker - Kevin O'Meara

Keena is starting to make a habit of playing principal roles where she is involved with her husband, Dave, on the stage as well as off!
Two of her last performances have been as Ruth in 'Pirates of Penzance' and Mabel in 'Mack and Mabel'.
This year she might not end up with the right man, though...

Kevin is happy to be back with the Festival Players for a third time. He is more often seen on stage with SWAOS where he has played leads and chorus (including recently playing the Major General in "Pirates of Penzance"). After Crazy he is looking forward to being part of the Pro-Am "Much Ado.." in Saffron Walden in September.

Tess - Lea Chambers

Mother - Pippa Taylor

This is Lea's second show with Festival Players since she moved to Cambridge in summer 2002. Before that she was a long-standing member of Shenfield Operatic Society in her home town of Brentwood, Essex. She has played a number of principal roles, including Ado Annie in 'Oklahoma!', Adelaide in 'Guys and Dolls', Hodel in 'Fiddler on the Roof' and her favourite: 'Sweet Charity'.

Pippa was born in Yorkshire but has lived in Cambridge since her student days studying Drama at Homerton. As well as appearing in many Festival Players productions (of which her favourite was "Carousel", where she was accompanied by her husband and two children) she has performed with the Cambridge University Gilbert and Sullivan Society, CaOS, Pied Pipers, NOMADS and Cottenham Theatre Workshop. Pippa spends the daytime as a Maths teacher at The Leys School, though she is also involved in drama there. She is pleased to be playing the part of Bobby s mother in "Crazy For You", and hopes that David will listen to at least some of her maternal advice, especially about marrying Irene.

Eugene Fodor - John Hill

Patricia Fodor - Jan Croft

John Hill has been involved in the Amateur Theatre in Cambridge and its surrounding villages for a number of years. He says it has been a privilege performing and/or directing with their respective groups.
John has played both leading and supporting roles. Recently he has undertaken small cameo parts. He says the smaller the role the greater the challenge. Generally, you have very little on which to base a character. So research is essential and every word counts.
John has appeared with Festival Players in their recent productions of 'Cabaret' and 'Anything Goes'. He hopes you will have a great evening and enjoy his portrayal of Eugene Fodor in this production.

Jan Croft has been involved in the Cambridge Drama scene for 25 years. Equally happy back stage or playing in chorus, support and lead roles on stage.
Her roles have included Sally Bowles in 'Cabaret', Beatrice in 'A view from the bridge', and supporting roles in 'Hello Dolly', 'Pyjama Game', 'Perchance to Dream' and 'Anything Goes' - plus every bit part in three productions of 'Salad Days'!
In her spare time Jan is a full time health visitor.
